SELYN - From The Beginning

Selyn, Sri Lanka's only Fair Trade guaranteed Handloom Company that engages with traditional handloom weavers providing a vivid array of handloom products which are manufactured and supplied to Fair Trade and commercial customers in Sri Lanka and around the world.

PROBLEM The client required a specific strategy to present a unique range of handloom toys to a younger target market. They further needed to incorporate and share their manufacturing process through an exclusively humane story, which featured these products. Our role was to cater to the said needs by combining the handloom toys with this humane story. This was done by ways of a stop motion animation video where the toys are personified, giving the toys themselves the ability to relate the story of their inception through a child-like perspective, maintaining the integrity of the exclusively humane story of Selyn.

OUR IDEA To engage our target audiences via effective online and social media campaigns such as facebook banner ads, competitions and videos. Persons with most number of QR Code scans and facebook shares win Creating branded neck tags on Corona Bottles with QR Codes.

OUTCOME OF COMMUNICATION One of the challenges we faced with this project was the acute budget constraints attached. However it provided us with an opportunity to creatively challenge our company and provide a cost effective solution to our client. We made use of the client's existing material and handmade the entire setting of the handloom playhouse featured in the video. Whereupon it was animated to portray the story which we wished to convey. This humane story presents snippets of Selyn's fair trade practices, manufacturing process, eco-friendly conditions and how the toys come to life through such practices and conditions.
